Waggoner Creek Elementary

This week marked such a special milestone for Miles for Music—our very first visit to a Texarkana ISD school! I had the joy of spending the day with the incredible students and teachers at Waggoner Creek Elementary, from Pre-K all the way through 5th grade.

From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with the kindest smiles and so much enthusiasm. We sang, laughed, and explored how music can help us share our feelings and celebrate what makes each of us unique. Whether it was dancing to rhythms or learning about how creativity connects us, every student brought such bright energy to the day.

Visiting Waggoner Creek was not just a school visit—it was a warm welcome to a new city and an exciting step in expanding Miles for Music to new communities across Texas. Seeing how quickly the students connected with the message of confidence and creativity reminded me why I started this journey in the first place.

A huge thank-you to Mrs. Henderson and the wonderful teachers and staff at Waggoner Creek Elementary for opening your doors and hearts to Miles for Music. And a special shoutout to the sweet girls who stayed after school to help tidy up my station—you truly made my day with your kindness and teamwork. I can’t wait to see where the music takes us next!
