Wow, what a school year this was.
My visit to Rattan Elementary in Anna marked my final Miles for Music school appearance before the spring semester came to an end, and I could not have asked for a sweeter way to wrap up the year. Getting to spend the day with students during their fun-filled field day week was the perfect ending to an incredible season of service, music, and connection. A special thank you to Mrs. Campbell for inviting me and making this visit possible.
As I reflect on this year, I am amazed by how far Miles for Music has come. When I first started this initiative, my goal was simple: to reach 10,000 students through music. Today, that number has grown to more than 50,000 students reached through performances, storytelling, and creative self-expression across Texas.
Over the course of this journey, Miles for Music has traveled nearly 20,000 miles across the Lone Star State, visited schools from Dallas to Corpus Christi and beyond, and provided countless opportunities to encourage students to embrace their passions and build confidence through creativity. Every school visit, performance, and conversation served as a reminder of why this mission began in the first place.
To every student, teacher, counselor, administrator, volunteer, and supporter who welcomed Miles for Music this year, thank you. Your encouragement, kindness, and belief in this mission made every mile worth it. Watching students discover their spark through music and creative expression has been one of the greatest privileges of my life.
As this school year comes to a close and a new chapter begins with college on the horizon, I am incredibly grateful for the memories, friendships, and impact created along the way.
Texas, thank you for an unforgettable school year. I can't wait to see where the music takes us next!
