St. Elmo Elementary

This week brought one of the longest road trips for Miles for Music yet, and it was absolutely worth the journey! I had the joy of visiting St. Elmo Elementary, marking my very first Austin ISD school visit. The day was filled with energy, laughter, and plenty of creativity as we explored the importance of self-expression together. One of the highlights was playing a lively round of musical statues—a simple game that brought so much joy to the students and showed how music can spark confidence in such a playful way.

A heartfelt thank-you goes to Mrs. Loren for welcoming me so warmly and making this visit possible. Walking into St. Elmo, I could feel right away that this was a school where creativity is celebrated, and it was such an honor to be part of that for a day.

There’s something magical about the way music and laughter transform a room—they don’t just create moments of learning, they create moments of celebration. Watching the students light up reminded me once again why Miles for Music exists: creativity builds confidence, connection, and memories that last far beyond the classroom. And today, I left St. Elmo with quite a few unforgettable ones.

We played a fun game of Musical Statue as well during the presentation!
