I was able to see all of the PreK-5th graders at Holland Elementary to share Miles for Music with for a day! It was so much fun! I also tried something new, handing out colored scarves for them to act like conductors while I performed classical pieces. They would shake their scarves as fast as possible when I played quickly, and then would calmly sway side to side when I started playing slow.
This is the first time I was able to bring the digital piano donated by from Maestro Bruno of DFW Piano Gallery and Casio to an appearance for my non profit organization. The teachers were at first going to place my program in the music room, however changed their minds when they saw that I brought my own materials. We moved all of my belongings into the auditorium, allowing everyone from each class to come experience my program. The piano was incredible, resonating so well in the large auditorium and with a few function and sound modes adjusted, sounds extremely similar to a grand piano.
Holland Elementary has the most sweetest students, teachers, and staffs! After every grade level, all of the girls and boys would run up to ask me more questions and huddle into a big group hug. They jumped in excitement whenever I played Golden Hour and Bundle of Joy at the very end as well! The teachers helped with passing out the scarves, announcing what I would be doing, and kindly took still shots and videos of the opportunity whenever they could!
I want to thank Mrs. McDonald, Ms. Wylie, and Ms. Eley for helping and allowing me to bring Miles for Music to Holland Elementary School this school semester. I cannot wait to visit again!
