Some school visits stay with you for a long time, and my day at Bush Elementary was one I won’t forget anytime soon. As the largest school I’ve visited so far with Miles for Music, I had the incredible opportunity to perform for nearly 1,000 students in one day!
Walking into the building, I could immediately feel the energy buzzing in the air. There’s something uniquely powerful about performing for such a large group of kids—each one bringing their own spark of curiosity and excitement. Despite the size, the connection didn’t feel distant or overwhelming. Instead, the room felt electric, like everyone was on the same musical wavelength.
I played a mix of classical pieces and some of my favorite movie themes (which always gets a fun reaction!). Watching so many students respond, whether it was wide-eyed awe during a gentle piano moment or laughter from a poem in my poetry book, was incredibly moving. Even in such a large crowd, I could still see those little moments of wonder on their faces.
Reaching this many kids in one day felt like a major milestone. Moments like these are a reminder of why Miles for Music exists—to spark creativity, connection, and joy through music. I’m endlessly thankful to Bush Elementary for the warm welcome and the chance to share music with so many bright young minds.
