This week, I had the absolute joy of visiting Lowe Sr. Elementary in Dallas ISD as part of our Miles for Music initiative, and it was truly an unforgettable experience! The energy, curiosity, and creativity that filled the room were nothing short of inspiring.
From the moment I stepped into the school, I was met with warm smiles and eager faces ready to explore music, movement, and emotion through interactive learning. One of the highlights of the day was playing the musical statue game using colorful ribbons. The students had a blast dancing, freezing, and expressing themselves freely—it was heartwarming to watch their joy unfold with each note and movement.
We also explored the vibrant world of Confident Cupcake, where students learned how colors connect to emotions. The big surprise? Discovering that Indigo represents the emotion of mystery! Watching their faces light up as they made that connection was such a special moment—these young minds were fully immersed, curious, and open to learning in such a unique and meaningful way.
A huge thank you goes out to Mrs. Zak and Mrs. Teasley, whose support and dedication helped make this visit so seamless and memorable. Your passion for your students and their growth was evident in every moment, and I’m so grateful to have shared this creative journey with you!
